Priority 1 Shredding was established in Prince George’s County Maryland, in 2007. Its founder, who has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, saw the need to create the company after seeing firsthand how identity theft affects innocent people. Priority 1 Shredding’s mission is to help combat identity theft, one of the fastest growing crimes in America. According to a 2017 Identity Fraud study conducted by Javelin Strategy & Research, it is reported that “identity fraud incidence rate increased by sixteen percent, a record high since Javelin Strategy & Research began tracking identity fraud in 2003. Fraudsters successfully netted two million more victims in 2016 with the amount fraudsters took rising by nearly $1 billion dollars to $16 billion.”

From 2007 to 2017, Priority 1 Shredding predominately focused on serving counties in Maryland. Priority 1 Shredding has now expanded its service area to Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, and Northern, VA. To better serve all areas, the company has upgraded its equipment and brought on new personnel. Priority 1 Shredding’s new mobile unit permanently destroys sensitive documents. Priority 1 Shredding’s goal is to provide fast, friendly, and professional service to all clients, no matter how big or small the job is. As equally important, Priority 1 Shredding strives to help individuals and businesses protect confidential information from identity thieves. Priority 1 Shredding uses some of the fastest mobile document shredding equipment in the business. Our mobile unit shreds and compacts up to 5000 lbs per hour. Additionally, all paper is recycled after it goes through our shredding process and during recycling, the ink is washed off of the shredded remains.
